Bergantino "super" stack

What should I add to my rig?

I'm looking at putting the final touches on my "loud" rig, and am trying to decide on which route to take. I currently have a Aguilar DB680 preamp, paired with a Crown Macrotech 2400, running into a Bergantino HT322. I am looking at adding another cab, and am going to either get another HT322, HT310, or a HT115.

The HT322 I can get later this month, and probably for around $650 ish; I can also get a HT310 for about the same. The HT115 I can get for around $450. My goal for the stack is (obviously) tone and volume. :)

The HT322 on its own is already pretty loud, so I'm wondering if I should just add the 15, or go all symmetrical and stack another HT322 on my own cab. What do you think?

The HT115 on top of the HT322 is a very formidable stack! We no longer offer replacement parts for any of these cabs except the tweeter diaphragms. We can match fairly closely the 12" and 15" woofers with some currently available ones, but the 10" woofers are a unique and proprietary design.

Thanks for the response, Jim! Having your recommendation is definitely the best outcome I could hope for. :)

Yes, a 2x10, 1x12, 1x15 rig would be formidable.

I don't know about those particular Berg cabs, but I run my vintage-tubed db680 through a PLX3602 (and into Baer, MAS, Berg etc. cabs). I've often wondered how a Macrotech would sound! Likely not appreciably different :woot:

Oh, I bet that sounds great!

You know, it's funny--years ago I had a great setup: my DB680 running into the power section of a DB751, feeding two DNA-210 cabs (see pic below). It was loud, clear, and ridiculously heavy. Take in mind these 210 cabs were the older ceramic model DNA cabs, not the neo.

I play almost entirely with IEMs, so I eventually thought that I didn't need all the volume and weight, so I sold the 751, and the two cabs. I should have kept them, because here I am rebuilding a loud, heavy setup again. :)

I love the Macrotech because it gives me that note weight and headroom I miss from the 751.

My Lord that would be an amazing stack to play in front of. The HT322 is the best sounding cab I've ever owned, I can only imagine the low end projection adding that 15 into the mix.
I ran a 750 watt Thunderfunk amp into the HT322 I owned, and it was a glorious combo.

I’d like to suggest another option. A shaker bassboard. It’s a transforming experience if you are looking for maximum impact and it doesn’t mess up the FOH or stage mix. Seriously. When you can hit low notes that make your vision blur, it’s a whole other thing. I’ve had opening bands try mine out and they are all sold on it. With IEMs, I don’t even bring cabinets to gigs, but it goes great with cabs, too.

I have something for that—the Backbeat G2. I absolutely love it!

Bergantino is always coming up with new models but they also phase them out and probably the reason is supply issues as well as sales. And unfortunately for most models, there will be no replacements. If you like a particular Berg cab better not blow the drivers. Same thing goes for other brands. Meanwhile in guitar land you can still Celestion Blues or V30's even if your amp is 50-60 years old.

So if you like a bass cab now, I think you may have to buy replacement drivers to future proof your purchase. Me for example I missed out when Golihur was selling replacement AI and EA drivers. I could still get them at eye gouging prices on eBay. Even Golihur was charging 4X what AI or EA would have charged,

Anyway when IP310 blows a driver, I will probably offer what are not broken to someone who needs them. That's the issue. I think the Subway is a top seller and they probably will have replacements and the design more or less has been the same for over a decade I believe

I ma ready to get the NEOs and I hope that the projected production and model lifespan is longer. I think if I get one, I will also get a replacement driver and store and protect it well to future proof the purchase right after the warranty period

In 29 years of playing I’ve yet to blow a driver. Never heard that rubric to guide a purchaser. Even in ungodly loud bands I used judgment or added cab if needed. In the same vein, I haven’t broke a string since the 1st year I stayed playing.

+1 This is my recommendation, as well, though the HT310 is a wonderful cab in its own right.
