What should I add to my rig?

I hope you just did nogt junx it man :D My freind told the same thing to me and that I am paranoid and an unattended sprinkler soaked hsi SWR cab. Nobody knew it was happening during the break in a wedding gig and the paper was gone on one of the drivers. One of my EA Whizzy is already tired and the only replacemnt I have is for the 10 from Golihur. It can b a problem when that day comes. I am scouting ebay for a replacement driver.

Bernatino has so many iconic and pioneering designs but will all be useless if anything fails cross overs tweeters and you can find replacement. You just can't stick anything on these things and hoping it will work

At least he is forward thinking and is now offering IRs of those iconic cabinets

I didn’t even think of something like a sprinkler, so I completely understand.

To be fair, if something was to happen like depicted above - I’d probably move onto something different as it’d be the easier alternative and high quality, capable gear is everywhere.

So if you like a bass cab now, I think you may have to buy replacement drivers to future proof your purchase. Me for example I missed out when Golihur was selling replacement AI and EA drivers. I could still get them at eye gouging prices on eBay. Even Golihur was charging 4X what AI or EA would have charged,

Anyway when IP310 blows a driver, I will probably offer what are not broken to someone who needs them. That's the issue. I think the Subway is a top seller and they probably will have replacements and the design more or less has been the same for over a decade I believe

I ma ready to get the NEOs and I hope that the projected production and model lifespan is longer. I think if I get one, I will also get a replacement driver and store and protect it well to future proof the purchase right after the warranty period

As I’ve said many times, I would put any of our original HT series of cabinets up against any cab currently on the market, including our own, and have them compete very easily and favorably with them purely from a tone and performance perspective. The reason you see our designs evolving over the years is because players’ needs and demands for lower weight, smaller products keeps changing. It’s really that simple. And given our drivers are custom designs, it unfortunately does make it difficult and expensive for any company to support them well beyond their “sell by” date. Sometimes we can suggest off- the-shelf drivers that would do a nice job if needed, but some really don’t have a comparable off-the-shelf counterpart that would work well in the application. But what frustrates me, while we’re on the subject, is everytime Microsoft introduces a new OS and some of my older apps wont work or continue to support the older OS forcing me to buy a new computer and newer versions of other software programs that we’re working perfectly fine for me with the older OS but won’t work with the newer OS. Anyways, technology keeps evolving whether we like it, or need it, or not.

Thank you Jim for that response. You do have the best cabs. That is why I am playing the IP 310as long as I can.

IN our shared Jam space where we see regular performances weekly, we've left 2 older Berg HD112's and they are just great, I will probably get a new HPN12 over the reference from you because I see that's the path forward. When my EA Whizzy dies, considering eBay sellers want 400 or more for a used driver -- it's better to just put that 400 towards a Bergantino

Bergantino makes WONDERFUL cabs. But, you already know that!

IMHO, base your decision on specs. DB one watt, one meter. Low end to bright end frequency. (40hz) Also, depending on how strong you are...........WEIGHT!

Be careful: A good looking frequency spec at 40Hz is not full disclosure. If the cab is tuned higher than that it puts an audible discontinuity (above vs below resonance) in the middle of your lowest notes.

Back when the HT line was introduced, this could have been brought to our attention (at least three of them were tuned below 40Hz, @Jim Bergantino said in a reply to me), so it could have become common knowledge, and a selling point for those who want that. And from then until now we could have been aware of it and talking about it. But I did not notice a single person mention it in the old threads about the HT line, nor in this thread, see? So unfortunate.

To @RGerhart: I don't own an HT yet (but I'm guessing what the attraction is for you). I do have a QSC PLX 3102, so I know you're someone of good taste. :-) And it's nice to feel less alone. :-)

I think you may be overthinking where the cab is tuned vs end result. Sure there are differences but not enough IMO to determine the design of the cab and what the cab is tuned to. There’s a lot of factors that go into the end result and parameters of the design. However, given the reason behind your post as I think I understand it, I would think a discussion of a sealed vs a ported design would be more appropriate here. And as you know I’ve had several posts and thoughts on this very topic. There is no perfect solution and there are trade offs to all designs. You just have to determine which trade offs you’re willing to take and which you’re not based on your tonal and performance goals. I hope this makes sense. My apologies if I misunderstood your post.

Sounds like a good use case for something like VMWare Workstation, so you can virtualize those older machines and just run them as windows ... ;-)
At our work, we have a 30 year old "computer" that just runs as a program now, just like that - basically running sensor software and hardware on Windows NT inside windows 11.. and it has no idea that it's inside another OS.

...there's always a way...

Well, I ended up getting the stack figured out. I got both. :)

There was a nice fellow selling a HT322 and HT115 about 45 minutes away from my gig I had on Saturday in Tacoma, so I left home early and went up to buy them. He made me a deal I couldn't refuse, so I figured what's the harm in having both?

I really dig them. I can't decide if I like the 322 double stack better, or the 322/115 stack. They both sound amazing.
