Bernie Rico Vixen V or Warwick Vampyre SN???

Which of these bass would you buy to play black metal??

The Vixen is a neck thru alder body, maple neck, ebony fingerboard. Double P configuration Seymour Duncan with Volume, Tone and 3-way selector. Badass bridge, grover tuners.

The Vampyre is set neck maple body, ovangkol neck and wenge fingerboard. MEC J/JJ pickup configuration 2 band electronics.

Both are 4 strongs, 34".

What do I do???

If your set on these two basses....play them both...which ever one plays, feels, and sounds the best to you...buy that one...

I have never played the Vixen, but the Vampyre i got a chance to try out felt like playing a 4 x 4 post ugh...looked sexy, but played like crap....

i really don't understand why but is it really important what we as a collective think? It's your bass

If i listened to ever Tom, Dick, Harry and Jane on this board i would be stuck playing a Fender P through and Ampeg amp

seriously play what you want to play and don't worry about what we think or care...as in the final analysis it's quite moot

it will be your bass, and your sound pick the one that sound good, feels good, and plays well...for YOU

and good luck...

IF you haven't really set your heart on either of those two basses give ESP a look Especially the F series and AX series....a lot of your fellow brothers in arms play these basses...the 35" inch scale of the F series and the EMG's are well suited for Metal and de-tuning...plus they look the part...AGAIN just MHO for what that is worth

I have said it a million times so one more won't hurt (though I'm actually typing it)...

..Play what you like and like what you play...

You're right. I know what I'm going to find with the Vampyre, I've played one, a thumb, a fortress...Warwick is a familiar brand for me.
What I really want is to know if a Bernie Rico would be a better choice. I really like playing basses with unknown brands (I have a Sandberg and a Fame) or less known like this BR, but of course if is worth the money.

I know, warwick sound would fit my style due it's peculiar combination of woods and electronics, but is the bass everybody has (well, not this particular model but the brand) here to play metal.

I know the Bernie Rico exceeds in quality it's cousins in Bc Rich, but I'd like to know if the sound would fit my style too. And if it's playability and components are worth the money.

UInoftunately I don't have one BR at hand so I can't say...

You already iknow you like the Vampye, so get it.

And if a Brenie Rico ever crosses your path, try it out and swap up if you think it is better (don't trade it in - flip the Vamp in the classifieds or whatever)

But don't pay a big ticket price for a bass you aren't familiar with, no matter how many TBers tell you it's better!

I suggest you get a Dark Lord!
Now those thick and heavy woods give a very unique sound! Be shure to check it out before you go for a SN or even a LTD!

I don't like EMG pickups, that's why I don't want a ESP/LTD. Otherwise I tried the 175 F# string vampyre and I don't like that huge string. The first thing I would do is to replace the nut to accommodate the 55-110 gauge I use.

Is a pity that nobody knows the Bernie Rico, maybe I should jump to the emptyness....

Oh mate I wasn't talking about ESP there, Warwick Vampyre LTD!

Also yes thats what I thought, that you change the F# String to normal. I play mine in F# but the normal E string sound very good, and I can imagine that the D and G to!
