The Allman Brothers Band is one of the few rock ensembles from back in that era that sounds as good now as they did then*. I made the mistake of not folowing them very much after Duane and Berry passed. I now see YouTube videos with Derek Trucks and Oteil and realize how good that ensemble was. But with Greg gone I think I’ve missed the opportunity.
*i’m refering to the albums.

Berry was an original. Shame he left us so soon. According to Greg Allmans autobio, Berry became Duanes shadow. I guess Berry had his own voice on the bass, but he could make it mesh with what Duane was doing beautifully. With Duane gone, I guess he didnt have much joy.
When Live at The Filmore came out, it bowled us over. We immediately became an Allman Bro cover band for 2 years. I was one of two guitarist but I was definitely hearing his bass power.
