Because of this thread, I used my Para Acoustic DI twice last week. Left three other preamp/DIs home. I think the bass sounded better than it has in some time; thought maybe it was me just being hopeful, but the guitar player agreed. Mine is so old that it says "Handcrafted in the USA."
