+1. While twisted pairs are of benefit with balanced interconnects and mic cables they should be avoided with speaker cables, as they result in higher resistance, capacitance and inductance, all of which are detremental with the low impedance loads presented by speakers.

As for high priced cables they only benefit the income of owners and shareholders of the companies that make and sell them.

How do you know he hasn't got speaker cables several kilometers
long in which case his understanding of Hyperlitz theory may slightly improve the frequency repsonse of his set up at around 40 KHz.

I use cables with Neutrik ends and Belden cable. The Neutriks ends may not necessicarily sound better, but they look impressive.

is the beating of the pony, But I'll stomp on him with one more question that's sorta OT. Are those speakon adaptors that go on 1/4" cables effective as in as good as the real thing? I have a good, 1/4" speaker cable that I'd like to use with these adaptors, if they serve the purpose.

Oh, I just got my custom made 4ft speakon speaker cable in the mail from Butch on Saturday, used it a gig that nite. Shoulda ordered 2 but only found my 2nd speakon speaker cable went bad after I ordered. Yes, Butch told he me was dang busy working every day to fill orders. Good stuff.

speakon connectors have a higher capacity than 1/4" jacks. Also, they have the ability to lock in.

Both of those benifits would be lost when using an adaptor.

One thing I haven't seen in this thread yet, and what I was not aware of until recently, is to stay away from the flat speaker cable (the stuff that looks like lamp cord.) Make sure the conductors are twisted around each other inside the jacket. The flat cable allows voltage to be induced from the hot side to the common, effectively shorting out the amp.

This has got to get the twaddle award! Never have I read such crap in my whole life and I thought I'd heard it all!!!!

But i heard you need to use wrapped round cables because that way the electrons travel in a circular motion which is what is needed seeing the speaker is circular.

But you need to use rectangular/flat cable if you are pushing sqaure shaped speakers.

I use 10 guage Coleman 1/4 to Neutrik Speakon. I would not think that a speaker cable would make much of a difference in sound quality but every little bit helps I guess.

This advert is so factually misleading as to come under the new fraud legislation aimed at protecting the geriatric from unscrupulous trades people.
I suppose extremely gullible geriatrics are the main customers
followed closely by those that believe in "less is more" bass gear.
The graph is shocking do the other cables tested have a 2.2Uf cap in series with them as that would be the only way to show this result at eight ohms.

You could use lamp cord from your head to cab and I guarantee you'll hear no difference compared to hundred dollar cables. At such high power, signal-to-noise is simply not an issue.

And if you believe it is, I'd like to know how to tap into this 300W background noise, so I can use it to power my amp.
