Best 2x15 setup you've found...preferably pair of 1x15's

The best 2-15s I have ever come up with.... Bag End S15B-D and S15XD

I just ordered a pair of Carvin mb115s. They can handle 800w a ohms and weigh 30 lbs each. They also only cost $200 a piece. I'll let you know how they are when I get them if you wish.

I was thinking about ordering four of the MB115s for a reggae rig. They must have just dropped the price on them to $199

Old Altec option Ampeg SVT 115 cabs are my favourite with a Vintage V4b and an SVTIIP pre amp to augment the EQ and to provide smooth tube overdrive.
Other than that I had a pair of 70's JBL 15" MI cabinets with K140 drivers in that I loved greatly.
As I don't tend to drive a pair of fifteen inch cabs with more than 100 tube watts often. I can't comment on any of the new higher power handling drivers as they all sound, to either a larger or lesser extent, rather dull and flubby sounding, probably as a result of having very long heavy voice coils and extended suspension systems and spiders, killing off agility and higher frequency response.
I am also a big fan of the old 200watt EVM15L's and the old black widow peavy driver wasn't a bad sound at all.:-)

I love my SVT15e pair, with Legend replacement drivers.

As much as I like the checker tolex of the pf series, I'll admit that the understated nature of the other lines of cabinets is easy to forget. Having played one of those cabs with original drivers, I also know it's got great tone as well. Also, all this talk of fifteens has me missing my Yorkville cabinet, that thing is impossible to sound bad through.

I definitely love a good 2x15 or pair of 1x15's! Fortunately, we have lots of great options. Here are some of my faves:

Bergantino NV115:

And of course the NV215:

Orange OBC115:

Old school Mesa and Trace are also great options, even today:

Does anyone have an opinion on the best inexpensive 215 setup for us bass players on a budget? I would love to have a Fearful rig like Burning Skies has but I just can't afford it. Would like to meet the amount well under $1000.

A pair of BagEnd S15D cabs can be had for well under that mark. As for a single 2x15 cab.. You can have a custom cab made by LDS who makes extremely good sounding cabinets.

Not light, but a Peavey 215-d loaded with BW 1505-8 (the ones with the high xmax) should be fairly affordable and have a beast output.
