Best Amp Companies

very close but a little clarification- our cabinets are all built in our shop in Arizona. Our electronics are usually all assembled in our shop overseas from parts made in the U.S., Europe and Taiwan. They are then shipped to our shop for qc and burn in. I say "usually" because on some, we do some final assembly in Arizona too.

Thanks, Roger. I knew I had part of the story right ... thanks for the clarification. I quoted your response back into my original post so people will see the complete info when they first read my post.

Cheers,
Liam

The keyboard player in my band bought a Harke Keyboard amp. Apparently they just started making them. He had it just a couple of weeks when it started buzzing. He sent it back for repairs. It had a bigger buzz than before when it came back. He sent it in again and it's been a month and he hasn't got a replacement.
Because of this in the future when I want to get a new bass amp I won't be looking at Harke.

I had a rough experience with Carvin's customer service.

I traded my Ashdown combo for a Carvin b500. The b500 stopped working, so I called carvin customer service and asked how much it would be to fix. The rep quite gruffly let me know that they no longer fix b500's, even though the line was discontinued only 3 or 4 years ago. He then proceeded to tell me how much better the b1500 is and told me that if I would buy right then as we were speaking that he might be able to "pull some strings" and get me 10 or 20 dollars off.

I said "No, I really just want my &*%$$# head fixed thanks. I thought I was talking to customer service, not to a salesman." and hung up. :(

+1 for Genz-Benz. When I first started lurking here, I was surprised to see their team members here on TB, answering questions promptly and effectively. With most other companies (not unreasonably) a customer has to go to their site or make contact directly in some other way. GB, in contrast, is unusually proactive in intercepting not only problems, but even product questions, in a general forum like this one. In doing so, they address questions or issues for both the affected individual customer and for everyone else's benefit. They also are prompt in replying to PMs. In my book, that's representative of top shelf customer service.

Out of the few times I have had to deal with C/S and repair issues I have had great customer service experience with:

BBE Great tech help and return phone calls and emails right away.

Avatar My first cabinet didn't work well. Was possibly damaged in shipping. Got me a new cab out the next day. They were very responsive.

Peavey Friendly and helpful people in parts department and the tech staff is very cool and helpful.

QSC Very good techincal assitance

Crown Good Technical assistance and help with their power amps.

Carvin. They upgraded me to a bigger amp for the same price because they screwed up the order. It was a gift for my daughter and they knew reordering the amp would get it to me late. I never asked them to do that. I thought that was really cool.

I have had horrible customer service from Ampeg. This was about a year before the transition (01/06) and the people in St. Louis were very apathetic and semi-rude. They were less than concerned about my warranty issues with my BA115HP. Really turned me off.

So far my votes go for:

QSC, Genz-Benz and Tech21. If BobbyBld gets me that gold logo for the Peavey cab I would include them too (shameless bribe). :ninja:

Genz-Benz: I was considering buying one used, but had a few questions. I could not find the answers on the net... so I called GB. Jeff Genzler answered the phone and proceeded to talk to me for about 15 minutes until I had exhausted all of my stupid questions... and this was on a discontinued, used head. He would have seen $0 on the transaction! VERY cool guy!

Tech21: When it comes to service, Lloyd is the man... period, end of question! He got my issues straightened out without a hitch. He spent a lot of his time working with me and making my situation right... He is very easy to talk to and seems to really care about the perception of his organization.

QSC: Mr. Lee from TB... 'nuff said. :bassist:

Oh yeah, the folks at BBE seemed pretty nice too. I dealt with them briefly and they were going to go out of their way to help me with a 383, but I didn't have any work performed in the end.

Ox.
