Best at Playing While Singing?

Also, since I haven't seen his name here, Tom Araya from Slayer plays bass and sings, though live, he doesn't do either particularly well...

agreed... his live "singing" is horrible.

i agree with the newsted ppl. I used to be a newsted nonbeliever when i first started playing and i was all "arrrrr cliff4eva!" but he really does some kick ass work laying down the low end. If cliff ever had a fault it was that the bottom dropped out live sometimes (i wasn't born yet, it's jsut what i've heard<---covering my bum). and some of that stuff is kinda tough to time right when sinigng back up. my band covered king nothing, and if you're not spot on, that WHERE'S YOUR CROWN!? couold sound a little off.
Larry Graham & Geddy are my votes.
I have a larry graham instructional video - and while it does suck severely as an instructional video it has lots of playing on it - and normally when he plays he sings along too. Very impressive.

I've never seen Richard Bona play and sing but if he play his lines and sing, he is definitely an all time great. I forgot about Doug Pinnick, I saw him live and he was quite good.
Wow, what a great list of musicians. Perhaps the most impressive "double threat" that I have seen live is Marco Mendoza, who is simply incredible singing over latin funk grooves on his 6 string (fretless no less).

As for the whole Mos Def thing. His bass player is the awesome Doug Wimbish. And don't you forget it.
Can't really add much to the list. All my faves have all been spoken for.

I should probably add Prince though. He's a great bass player and live often straps on his bass for songs like Let's work and still sings great.
Also Lige Curry from P-funk does a truck load of lead vocals live and those syncopated bass lines are tricky to sing to.
