The one that made me absolutely stop and listen (after McCartney, Berry Oakley, et al,) was Pino Palladino on Paul Young's THE SECRET OF ASSOCIATION. Made me run out and purchase a fretless bass.

Love the Boston albums bass work. I believe Tom Scholz played the majority of the bass tracks on those albums.

Oh man. There are several, but I can’t think of them all right now. The ones that immediately came to mind are the first 3 Jamiroquai albums and Michael Jackson “Off the Wall”.
Obviously just about any Motown and Stax goes right up there too.

Led Zeppelin II. Besides the amazing "Lemon Song" other outstanding Bass parts include "What Is and What Should Never Be", "Thank You", "Ramble On" and a few others. The first Led Zeppelin album is great too but some mistakes were left in maybe because the songs were long and there wasn't enough of a budget for additional takes.

A few more from me... some previously mentioned in this thread... while I think BSSM is a far greater album with better songs and tighter grooves, this one is a blast as well...
... and while we're talking about L.A. bands, we can't leave out this perfect gem...
... or this classic from these guys...
... meanwhile, up the coast, these guys put out this great, little live diddy... Les just KILLS it on this one...
... a fantastic Jane's spinoff... excellent all the way around... songs, production, performances... Martyn LeNoble is a BAD MAN...
... another longstanding bad man, I just love this one from Stanley.... holy cow, what a great album...
... and for something completely different, y'all need to check out this former band from the Dallas area if you're not already familiar with them... Ten Hands... think progressive yet sorta funky at times... heavy Zappa influence... great lyrics... TIGHT band with a North Texas State drummer and a solid Chapman Stick player in the bass department... just a FANTASIC band... wow, I love these guys...
... three more live albums and I'll be done... first up, Nathan DESTROYS on this one... Steve Gadd, David Sancious and Billy Preston are in the band for this one... and the mix tops any other Clapton live release and just about any other live release I've ever heard... the version of "Badge" on this one is worth the price... SIMPLY AWESOME...
Guy Pratt... what a beast... too bad the CD version didn't include "One Slip"... but it's out there online for everyone to enjoy...
... and lastly, J.V. Collier is just a MONSTER... heck, to play Hornsby's stuff, you gotta be... regardless of the year, the whole band is a bunch of studs... if J.V. should ever leave, there's gonna be a gaping hole to fill... any of the live Hornsby stuff is tremendous... I recommend all the Dagle's Choice releases, too, if you can find 'em... cheers, folks!
