Best Bass for $2000

Just turned 60 and have recently gotten back in the game after a thirty five year lay off. Money is not an issue these days, but I'm still looking for the best value. Recently bought a MIJ 62 reissue that sounds great... $500.
Still have my 69 EB3 short scale and a Michael Kelly accoustic as well as a 2000 Squire P.

That is close to a used Roscoe price range, I would recommend trying one if at all possible.

$2000+ bass for about $1000 or less, look at a Carvin.
