Best bass for my needs under $2600?

My Fender Custom shop jaco pastorius tribute bass (used) ran about that much. Literally the BEST bass for under anywhere near 3k. Anyone who has played it feel free to try to contest this statement, it can't be done. This bass is a musical miracle.

Let's try not to get into that conversation. haha Also while i recognize the Fender p-bass is a great instrument, it just isn't for me. There is nothing wrong with it, I'm just not feeling it. I am not loving it like i am the Ric and Spector. I think I have a friend who owns a Ric as well so i am going to see if i can talk to him about trying it out for a feel before I do anything else.

I am really liking the Fender Deluxe Jazz 5 I just got a few months ago. Paid 1700 for it..also love the Fender American Standard 4..I paid 1050 for that. Both bass' play and sound wonderful for my likes. I'd go play a bunch of bass' and pick one you like in your price range. Peace...find your love..play away!

Seriously I have only played one Spector and it was a fantastic bass, but it was shaped like an explorer and had some crazy see through orange paint job....could not deal with that! I have always loved the tone of Rics just not the feel. Once again Good Luck!

Yeah I would agree...A friend gave me a mid 70's Ric 4001 a long time ago. After repairing it I could never get used to how it felt in my hands...It sounded amazing but felt awkward and strange to me. Guess I am just a Fender/Musicman guy.....only basses I have ever owned.

It really seems like some of the suggestions are being made without any real understanding of tonal goals. Bassist of Vildjharta uses a Carvin, at least in the Daggers music video; bassist of TesseracT uses a Warwick JazzMan Streamer (as shown in the Concealing Fate studio footage); Periphery's bassist, at least for the new album, used a Mayones Jabba for at least a few tracks. So yeah, you've got a bunch of options.

I bought the Streamer for $1850 and the Corvette for $650. Both made in Germany both Limited additions. I bought the Streamer on TB and the Corvette on Craigs list. Buy used you will get more bass for your money.

Well, I'll be damned. Yet another new genre of music for my old-school ass.... I had to You Tube it to even see (and hear) what the hell "djent" was. Hell, I thought it was what a Django Reinhardt (Google him) tribute band was called. Djent, Django..... Get it? Ah, sh!t. Never mind, dammit.

Anyway, it sounds like some l-o-w tuning is being utilized for this "Django:D-type" music that you speak of. So, 2 basses/works of art immediately come to mind. Below will (IMO)/should be the answer to your problems of getting some great tone.
**NOTE:**Be sure to read about both basses below to get a full understanding of their strengths for what you need.

A used Knuckle Bass. They're not exactly a household name. But, what bass is? Now, without further adieu....

For what you are willing to spend, the Afterburner II on down in Dingwall's line-up (price-wise), should do just fine, and then some. But, if your're willing to cop one used, you'll get way more bass by getting one of their more expensive offerings. When it comes to boutique basses, I'll buy used almost 95% of the time. After all, when's the last time you've seen a thrashed, abused high-end bass? Owners take care of 'em. They know what they have, and therefor appreciate 'em.

Ok, after seeing some of these last recommendations, they are getting very interesting. I have come up with a new list of the basses i have my eye on right now.

Spector Euro 5 LX
Sadowsky Metroline M5-24
Warwick Streamer NT1 5/Corvette $$
Dingwall ABZ 5
Knuckle Guitar Works Quake 5

The Knuckle and Dingwall seem to be the most difficult to find. I can find a couple Dingwall, but i honestly have no clue where to even begin to look for a Knuckle. i really am liking the Dingwall and Knuckle though, took the place of the Music Man basses, while i know they are great, i had to narrow it down somehow.
