Lots of people like StingRays... a picked Rick is a totally different (though equally distinctive) sound... and the Gibson Thunderbird really lives up to its name when picked (ironically I don't think I have ever seen a Thunderbird player outside of John Entwistle NOT play it with a pick... the two just seem to go together). And, short scale basses in general seem to respond better to pick than finger style.
I personally am not as fond of P-Bass for pick style as many others here, but that's just me. I've always felt the J-Bass is the better Fender in that regard.
