That's BS unless you can go to a Carvin store and pick out your bass. You don't know what you're getting when you order one either. At least with a used one you can ask the seller about and get pictures of every detail of the bass.

You guys have been very helpful, now I just have to convince my parents to get and/or loan money for a new bass.

There are a lot of small stores with more knowledgeable owners, but their selections aren't very good. Should I shop at those stores instead to see if I can get a good used bass?

True about the Carvins...Play the heck out of it for 10 days....then send it back if you don't like it. I've had NOTHING but GREAT things to say about Carvin.#1 I had a problem with my XB75PF (which was out of warantee.)..I sent it in,expecting to pay quite a bit for the work...They put in NEW electronics and shipped it back. All I paid was shipping both ways...( about $30.00.) #2 I sent my B4 in to have new strings put on...(It ,too was out of warantee) They put on new strings,and did a set-up job for free.That only cost me shipping both ways. YES, I AM A CARVIN FAN...I play 2 of their basses...I play through their amps...Their equipment is as good as anyones,and you buy direct...skipping the middleman. I'm sorry to hear that barklessdog had a bad experience with Carvin,but in my 35 years of playing,I've NEVER dealt with a STORE that had that type of Quality for the dollars I spent nor that good of warantee.
