That's exactly what I did. Added a Sadowsky pre with VTC and added a Nordy P5 and it sounds killer. I love this heavy ass pig of a bass.

I also have a MIM deluxe P bass I put Basslines 1/4 pounders,an Audere preamp and badass bridge; it's still one of my favorite basses.

My 2nd bass was a new 1965 Fender Precision. Back in 1966 I discovered I also liked the sound of the Fender Jazz bass. So I saved up and purchased the Jazz bass pickups and complete set of pots to go with it. At the time I was working for a company producing printed circuit boards (Computers were not a common item back then), so I worked with an electrical engineer who helped me create an integrated audio crossover circuit that would fit within the P-bass body. I routed the recesses for the J-bass pickups and the pots, but separated the aluminum grounding plate under the pick-guard and installed two cord jacks. This made it electronically a P-bass AND a J-bass in the same body with a circuit that could blend the two sounds. 40 years later (with Med-Gauge Rotto-Sound strings) I can simulate the sounds of Rickenbacher and Gibson basses while still being able to produce each Fender bass in the process. Fun to play, too!

I added a 'Stellartone tonestyler' to my G&L LB100. One of the few basses that i have had for a long time - the tonal range is pretty spectacular. Watch this vid from the 2 min mark onward. This is NOT me - this guy is a fantastic player, im a hack - with a good sounding P bass.

Did you make the PG yourself?
I was thinking about adding those two control plates on mine but as dummies. I hadn't really considered them being fully functional.
But I can honestly say, "You Got Down"!!!

I was lucky, in that the guy I bought the body from had already made the pick guard and routered the cavities. All I had to do was buy the all the Fender electrics and wire it in. I did the make the PG on my Jazz/Jag custom posted earlier though.

Both my Peavey Palaedium and Cort Rithimic have high mass bridges. They're factory fitted parts, but they're mods in spirit because Jeff Berlin swore by the Leo Quann Badass bridge and used them on his basses before he got the signature model with Peavey.

After Leo Quann's company folded and the bridges went out of production, Jeff went to Babicz for his Cort Rithimic model and they supplied an astounding bridge piece. I had always thought the Badass I and II to be attractive and effective pieces of engineering but the Babicz roller bridge takes that idea to a whole new level of elegance and execution.

Not much. Added a second Mustang pickup to a Mustang bass, reversed them both, and wired them to stacked knobs.
I love the Mustang pickup sound and wanted more variations of it on a single bass.
Not finished with the cosmetics yet so no pics for now.

Bought my Mexican made Jazz Bass new in 2001. I installed Fender 60's Custom Shop pickups, Fender USA bridge, roller string tree, and Schaller Straplocks. The entire control cavity was copper foiled/soldered and the jack was replaced with a Switchcraft #11. I made a thumb rest out of spalted cocobolo (poly finished) which attaches to the pickguard only (no drilling into the body) Future mods will be Hipshot tuners, and tone cap change on a push/pull. It's the best Mex jazz I've ever played

Professional De-Fret conversion on my Rickenbacker Cheyenne ii. (With maple strips inlayed).
In addition, I swapped the gold hardware for silver,had a VVT harness installed,and added Alembic contol knobs,upgraded Schaller tuners,and a custom TRC.

The first one I made was oiled Purpleheart. It was nice, but I bought that piece of cocobola and loved it.
There are some on Ebay that look pretty nice, different wood types and models.

The Elek-Trix TB1 by Santellan Sounds; harness for Jazz bass with a push-pull bridge V pu pot series/parallel. Also had a selectable capacitor option. Looks like a standard J setup from top-side. Unfortunately the company morphed into another company and they stopped making/selling them.
