Hi everyone! I’m looking for a nice bass preamp and a few questions have come up. I would prefer rack mounted to save on floor space, but I can go for a pedal if it’s the best option. I figure it’s gonna stay on most of the time. I want something that will give me a nice switchable OD as well as good compression and EQ controls. Ground lift and balanced out strongly preferred. FX loop would be nice. This will run through the power section of an SVT-7 Pro, then through an Eden 410xlt Thanks!!
Well, if you're gonna run a switchable rackmount, you'll have a pedal on the floor so why not just get a preamp pedal and be done with it? IMO / IME, your best bet would be something like the EBS MicroBass 3 which ticks all the boxes. I see a couple in the classifieds. They sound great. Edit: also doubles as a fly-rig so you can plug into any backline or PA. Riis
You can pick one up used for $275-300 used. DI, EQ, OD channel, compressor, tuner, stereo FX loop, headphone amp, aux-in...it's some serious hardware. Riis
Besides the EBS you also have the EHX Battalion, Fender Downtown Express, Valeton Bass Dapper, Gallien Krueger Plex Preamp, Orange Bass Butler and the new Markbass Mark Vintage Pre. PS: Also don't forget the TC Electronic Spectradrive.
Thats a kind of thread i like I agree with Driven Crane I have a few preamps and i got to tell you that i always come back to the Two Notes Le Bass, the green channel (A) is so warm and so simple On the downside, it's really big, the B channel... theres not much use for me and when you combine them, it gets really dirty, for the price you get a ton of features I would love to see a pedal with only the A channel in 125B size enclosures with top-mount jacks
