What is even more amazing is the fact that the original post is from Oct of 2000. John Entwistle was quite alive then. You should look more closely at someone's posts before you ding them for it.
LMAO. That's the best thing about being on a site that goes back like 7-8 years. You can see how much you've evolved.
I can't see why people say flea is the best because les claypool and victor wooten could smoke flea.
Have none of you guys heard John Myung play? He rocks with the best of them. But sorry to sound like a hypocrit haha but Steve Harris is my ultimate bass hero.
Wow, I've read every post in this thread, and as old as it is I'm suprised no one's mentioned Adam Nitti. I'd say that man's up there with some of the best in the world today. IMO of course.
IMHO there is no "Best" bassist. Everybody is the best in their own style. No two people play exactly the same thing, therefore nobody can technically be the best. I think the thread name should be changed to "Your Favorite Bassist of Today". My 2 cents.
My favorite would probably be Robert Trujillo or Marco Coti Zelati or maybe Flea.

Bumping 8 year old threads is fun, ain't it? Kind of amazing that TB still has these threads, so much history, even though, I'm kind of new.
Anyway, I don't think there's a best ,but there are a lot of great players. Any Stefan Fimmers fanboys? Michael Manring is also an amazing player, John Myung too.. The list goes on and on. Let me add one more thing for the whole "best player" concept. In my opinion, again, there is no best player unless that player can do every technque flawlessly, be fluent with the fingerboard, and can play DB too(Joke, but it'd probably get some of you mad).

I understand both points and agree to a point because there are so many styles and techniques out there and so many different styles of music also.
This being an opinionated thread is simply just people adding their opinions to the topic. There are no right or wrong answers. If you think Flea is a better bass player than Victor Wooten, well then you're right, to yourself. If I think Adam Nitti is better than Norm Stockton, well, I'm right also, but in my own opinion.
