BEST. COMPLIMENT. EVER.

last night I got the bass down for the first time In a while and I was just messing around. busted out this little lick from :55 on this song:

and my four year old looks at me and goes "Wow Dad, you are so cool!" best compliment ever. had to give him a big hug after that.

that's greatness bro!..

My daughter used to think I was "so cool" too, and loved to hang out with me when I was playing...she's 17 now, so not so much anymore...as mentioned...savor every single second of it.

I got an awesome compliment from my two older sons a few summers ago which I'll never forget. We were chatting about their friends one time and out of the blue they told me that all of their friends voted me as the "coolest dad in the neighborhood" lol!
Not so sure about that, but damn if it didnt make me feel good :)

One day we were having a family gathering with the extended family at the park and my grandson announces in a loud voice "My granpa is a bass player." I love that boy.
We celebrated his sixth birthday on Saturday. His mom wanted an Avengers birthday party, I played the Hulk. He told his friends several times "That's my grandpa." I had a great time playing with the kids.

That's awesome!

And to the OP: definitely enjoy it now, hehe.

My oldest daughter who turned 19 recently used to think I was so cool when she was really young but after a while she just basically ignored me and treated me like she felt the opposite. Or so I thought...

I would always recommend bands and albums to her when she was in her early teens and she'd just shrug, very disinterested. Same with films or books. So I just stopped. Well, last year she friended me on FB and lo and behold, on her list of MUSIC & MOVIES, there were tons of things I had recommended to her! She had some of my fave bands listed as her faves. So I guess they still appreciate and admire, but they have to be "cool" about it and just not let you know! :)

My oldest son is 19 as well. Believe me I know where you're coming from, brother..

My son is 41-years-old now. No worries most kids outgrow this. I did too. Although there are generational differences in taste I did come to respect my imperfect parents especially my dad.
My son and I are closer now than we ever have been even though there is some differences in our lifestyes. Sometimes I tease him and say "My son the yuppie! Where oh where did I go wrong."
