Best compliment I ever got from a FOH!

Tonight I received the best compliment EVER from a FOH engineer!

"Man, your bass didn't need anything. I turned off the compression, raised your gain a little, and boosted you a tad at 80hz. That's it. Sounds great."

All of my obsessing over pickups, potentiometers and capacitors, strings, effects, and technique has finally paid off!

Well, kinda.

At least this one FOH recognizes!

Nice!! What bass , pedals u using??

Just my Pbass, which I put an Aguilar pickup and an Emerson Custom pots/cap/wires in, with GHS flatwounds, tone turned almost off...
Into two octavers, od, delay, and reverb, although I'm not using much but some delay here and there this weekend...
Into a Radial J48 di box right to the board!
That's it!

I had a FOH engineer insist on taking the post eq out from my amp head. I said, ok but let me know if you need any adjustments from my end because I don't know how my knob settings sound through your system.

During sound check he got on the talkback mic and said, don't touch anything--it's perfect.

After the show, he really went on and on about how he didn't have to fix me at all and we got chatting about how the EQs worked on various amps and such.

I often hear him making suggestions to other guys on how they can tweak their sounds to aid the mix. So he wasn't just giving me lip service, I don't think.

That's awesome!
I had a FOH in a bar ask for my signal post-eq once years ago, only time I've ever been asked for that. I think he tweaked it, but he said he assumed a musician knows how to eq their instrument, and he'd take it from there. Good dude!

oh, i thought the best compliment was always, "man, you were so loud i didn't even have you in the mains!", accompanied by cursing or maybe weeping :D
