best compressor pedal for sustain and fatness

With the LMB-3 u need to keep the ENHANCE knob
off.
I forgot my exact settings,
I keep my settings at 11-12 o'clock and volume level according to the bass/amp..
Keep that enhance feature OFF!
I used it w big muffs, various overdrives, an SFT, a DOD 250.. It's ok usually.
The one cool thing about that pedal, it's non-obtrusive and virtually invisible, it allows u to dig in and get aggressive with reckless abandon, it takes a lot if hits in reviews, but it's very useful, and no tone suck at all I feel.

I hate to semi hi-jack this thread, but I've been wondering too. I came into this thread hoping for a general consensus from users on what pedal to achieve the OP's inquiry with but each post has a different opinion... snap...
Can anyone recommend me a pedal based on these conditions by chance? Maybe I could help the OP with my question too:
I need more sustain and evenness around the neck. Sometimes on my 7-string, the higher strings get virtually lost in the mix, really bad. I also do a lot of tapping and you know, those types of things don't always speak well. I play an active-pup bass (Bartolinis).
I play a lot of metal with a pretty aggressive/growly tone, so I'm looking for something that offers evenness and clarity playing faster runs while not sucking out the highs/edge.
NOTE: I also have used the Boss LMB-3 for months now and I like it, and personally I DO notice a change in tone (ever so slightly) -- a tad grittier and it CAN give sustain if you keep the threshold lower (I've found) but it isn't ENOUGH for what I need. I've been considering the EBS Multi-Comp and the BBE OptoStomp but there are so many #@!$ing choices I can't decide...and I can't be bothered to just try a billion out. Gah!

From there, I demo whatever I can find in NYC..

I thought it might make a fun project for my wife & I to do together,

They are great project kits in general. The optical one has better low end, but the two Ross/Dyna models (5-knob and "vintage") are OK for 4-string. Look up "Ross clones" in my reviews.
I've got an older (made in UK) Joe Meek VC3Q which is a preamp, compressor and EQ in a 1/2 rack space. I like it a lot, and especially the compressor. I know Meek now has floor pedal versions, but I've not tried them yet. Whether they are similar to the old UK stuff, I don't know.
But at least the older Meek compressors are great if you want to change your sound. It is not a limiter, it definitely colors the sound.

see if it does any better w the fuzz,
I always suggest trying a couple different fuzzes and also one or two compressors,
You'll find two different dirt pedals will work for different applications, compressors too.
I've also found that certain compressors and dirt pedals seem to bring out certain

They enhance harmonics too,
Try bringing your fuzz to a music shop, try a comp, see if it still squeals.

+1! i have the diamond comp too, thought it made the bass fatter and it just had that nice "shim"

I find i only use my pedalboard for harder,more modern rock acts..I like to use different tones to give songs flavor,offer some more textures to the people who hire me..
A touch of my LMB-3 also enables me to play aggressively,less inhibited..
without worrying about levels.
when I go for a traditional,vintage tone, I skip all the fx
and concentrate on things like,
playing on different strings strings,
right hand positions, and stuff like that to vary my tone.
today i will go to 3 shops in NYC
in my hunt for sustainy-fattyness.

I bought a guyatone St-2 for $50 and it performs splendidly, it kind of tightens as it fattens, it's ok so far.

For future reference I use a Boss CS-3 with this mod on (Boss CS-3 CS3 Bass Mod Kit | eBay). The difference after and before the mod is huge and it does sound pretty good after all. Good and tight bass response and infinite sustain.
