Best/Favorite Bassists on TB?

We spend a lot of time talking about our favorite bassists, but not a lot of time on the ones who are on TB.

Who are some of your favorite TB bassists?

Two of the guys I love to hear are [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and Link Removed.

Discuss, and add other bassists. Try to add some links so we can hear their playing.

This should be fun, there are a lot of great players here!!

although I think he left TB, I really like Link Removed' work

and I can't think of his name (boba?) but his band name is called Link Removed

Another favorite of mine is "narud" and his band's name is called "worth the weight" but i don't have a link :(

The two that come to mind first are Mikebass and Adrian Garcia. I also really enjoy Shelly's playing she has great touch and feel. But their are a lot of great players on TB, many of which I've never heard.

Do the name players with their own forums like Janek, Steve and Michael really count as TB'ers for purposes of this discussion? Of course they're great. So are Todd, Ray and David O.

But if we're going to include players who have their own forums, we should include Beaver Felton from Bass Central as well. Beaver's a technically brilliant player and an excellent showman. I've been a fan of his playing since he joined a Tampa prog-rock band called Hoochie in 1979. Until I saw Beaver, I never saw any bassist slap his way through Yes songs ;) Plus his instructional materials have really helped to raise the bar for bassists on a technical level.

I always enjoy Choad42's clips. I really like Lokire's clip's too. Lokire is clearly a young guy who is working hard and getting better all the time. I have a great deal of respect for LaMarquis Jefferson and Woodchuck since they have managed to achieve major industry success. Jaquo deserves all the respect in the world because he is really pushing the limits of the instrument. Another player I really like is a British bassist whose name escapes me. He posts alot of clips of himself playing fretless and with bands. He has a really strong groove and jazz concept.

I have seen KJung play live a few times, and I have played with him privately. The man can play, and he really knows how to groove tastefully; IMHO he is a great example of real world bass playing. Vision is a monster, and I loved the tone he got out of his Cirrus. Shelly has wonderful clips on her Myspace page, I just go to it to listen some times. Mikebass is a great player too, the solo he played on "Summertime" is a great listen.

I could go on and on because there is truly alot of talent here at TB. I am humbled every time I come here.

I really admire Beaver Felton. I had the pleasure of meeting him at BassCentral and he showed me stuff in about 20 seconds on my Foundation that made my jaw drop!:eek:
I also admire him personally because he is a wonderful example of getting most out of yourself, and not letting setbacks shut you down.:)

I can't narrow it down, but before I write my list, I will say that I'm certainly not judging this on super fast chops or who can play Portrait of Tracy upside-down with an open umbrella in their ass. I can't judge on being a bassist alone, so I also take into account songwriter/musician in general. I also don't care for standard "fusion" type players, or whatever. I like musicians/bassists who are original, and I think really are doing their own thing. That said:

Benjamin Strange
Jauqo III-X
Wrong Robot (RIP... to his talkbass days, not his being alive days)

I like what I hear from choad42. In fact, if he has a cd I can pick up, point me in the right direction please.

I also like what I hear from jzucker. Enormous talent with that guy.

Wow! someone was drunk enough to mention me....twice! :D Seriously, the list of players here that I admire and sometimes steal from is a long one. JT's prog chops slay me, Dave Siff is a groover supreme, and Bassmonkee? Please, don't get me started on him! Dr. Cheese still hasn't accepted his bass godliness yet. Jauqo is an amazing player, Adrian Garcia is a beast, too many, too many. I'll post again fer sure.
