I'd second the Traynor recommendation above. I have the SB115 and love it. I was on the verge of getting the 112 when I found the 115 used .

I like my Markbass CMD-121p. Not cheap but you can sometimes find used ones for less.

+1 on this amp, I was also able to find the matching extension cab. Total cost <$700 total. Ruh-diculous amount low end and volume. Its also super light, and you could check both cabs on Southwest Airlines if you really wanted too...

This. I have the Rumble Stage 800. But the 500 is plenty. These little 210 cabs can get LOUD! Mad balls for a little amp.

After looking around on TB for this topic, the most recent thread I could find was still a couple years old, so I thought I'd ask to see if there's some more recent info from those in the know.

I currently own a fairly lightweight TC Electronic BG250 1x15 combo, but it's still a bit bulky. I find myself in a situation where I'll be needing to haul my combo amp around on a fairly regular basis, so I was wondering if there's anything I could look in to that's even smaller than the BG250 that still packs a huge punch.

Markbass will get you there but it might be over your $500. Light, loud and cheap? 2 out of 3 is possible.

I own two of them. Both Made in Italy, one bought new for use at home, the other bought used for my band's rehearsal space. So dependable. Ideal sound and I rarely need to make adjustments. Only problem I ever experienced is that the handle on one needed replacement.

I’m another fan of markbass 121 combo. I like it better with a second cab, but it’s capable on its own. I assume used you could get one close to your price point.

GK MB210/212 would be my recommendation as a solo combo. Though the Markbass CMD121p, is a really good option if you’d like to future proof your rig.

I just picked up a GK MB112. Paired with a properly set up compressor, it's about the punchiest amp I've ever had the pleasure to play.

+1 on it for less than $500. I have one and it's such a great amp.

Yeah, Fender rumbles in my option are the best for the money and I still can't get over how light they are. I have the 100 and am currently saving up for the 500 to replace my TC 250

It’s hard to go wrong with the Rumble series. 200c, 500c, or even Stage 800. Punchy, reasonably priced, and as light as you like. Take your pick.

Fender Rumble 200 can be had new for under $500

Fender Rumble 500 can be found used for $400

Fender Rumble 800 can be had used for $600-ish

I have owned all 3, I now use the 800 mated to another 2x10" cab.

Punch, power and presence in every situation.

I had a Rumble 200 and although a good sound (and terrific weight) it wasn't the sound I was looking for. I sold it and bought a used Carvin 4ohm 210 cabinet ($200) and a new Acoustic B300 head ($212...Musicians friend). Definitely not a combo but a great sounding small footprint 45 lb. rig.
