I was wondering how long it would take for the DI is better/Use a kick drum mic advice to pop up.A microphone on a cabinet in a live situation? Certainly not something I'd recommend. A DI is really a much more appropriate tool for that particular application.
The AKG D112 is good. I've seen some live engineers use that mic. But if I were in a recording studio, I'd prefer to use an EV RE-20 on the cabinet.
