That is such a sublime tune. And yes, nice slides.
For anyone that didn't know, that is actually David Gilmour--Not Roger--on bass. Perfect playing.
Sounds like a "lined" fretless?
That song did not sound familiar at all until I played it a few minutes ago. Instantly recognized it. Funny how those note choices sound distinctly Jaco to my ears.
Great tone. Sounds almost like a gritty P-bass (or a Jazz on the neck pickup). I'm not an Alphonso scholar, so I have no idea...but it sounds like a P.

Start of bassline in Nice And Sleazy (Stranglers). I like a downward slide like that one, it takes a lot of precision to get the right amount of energy into it to sound like that. A little too much, or too little, and it wouldn't growl like that, with that depth to it.
I saw them play at Grillstock in Bristol and JJ Burnel had enough energy in the second downslide to pull it back up halfway up the neck with a sound like a luxuriant motorbike acceleration. He was definitely having a moment.

Got to be a bend, no? Nice sound, but I think he used a fretted bass. Can't do a slow tone slide that smoothly with frets. Well, I can't...
