How do I tell how much is drawn? I know absolutely nothing about powering pedals.

In the 1spot manual there's a guide to how much current some common pedals draw. I think you can find it in pdf form on their website.
FWIW, the 1spot has always been very reliable for me, and really the price is comparable to generic 9-volt adapters. I think the quality is better than alot of those generic wall-warts.
