And working on songs and music I actually like a lot, played along with the music and not only bass riffs and noodling has made me play a lot and make great progress this year.
SBL has a couple of great theory and fundamentals courses. Soak them up.
Then join a band and learn songs.

I didn't care for SBL. Way too much pointless talking and showing off (playing) vice educational content. Then instead of fixing the things that are wrong with their site and content, they just changed the entire format. Same content, just hidden in a different place. But they do have Phil Mann (instructor) on there and he's excellent. But overall, I would agree that Talking Bass is far more straight forward with content and i enjoyed that more.

I have been a member of SBL for a few years. I log in every once in a while and am just lost as to where to go. I mess around a bit and then log in again 6 months later and repeat. I wish it was organized better....or it may just be me!

IMHO, Scott's Bass Lessons has jumped the shark. The guy can play, and there is some good educational content in his earlier videos, but the last video I watched was just ridiculous. "I'm going to show you a SECRET PATTERN that will blow your mind!!! Don't click away!!! Watch to the end!!! Don't click away!!!"
The secret pattern? I-IV-V.
My suggestions: If someone has to keep asking you not to click away, it's probably safe to click away. And if someone tells you there's a "secret" that will transform your playing, look elsewhere.

Thanks again @Geri O for recommending Damian Erskine's site. I joined the other day and have been availing myself to all he offers. Holy Cow! This is a terrific educational site. Hands down one of the very best I've come across. He even sent a personal video email welcoming me to the site - quite a cool touch. He's clearly a highly skilled musician and an excellent teacher, explaining things in an easy, comprehensible way. It also has to be the best value for bass education on the planet (i.e., it ain't spendy at all). To say I'm pleased is an understatement. Every so often a nugget of value drops on TB. This is one of them. Thanks again!

He had a SECRET TO UNLOCK THE FINGERBOARD a while back that I think turned out to be tetrachords.
Hyperbole is poor teaching IMHO...but maybe good marketing?
