Best Powerful Budget Head?

there is no best - just what's best for you.
what was best for me was my hartke LH500 (they also make a 1000 watt version, the LH1000). i loved mine - great tone, good clean sound, the tube in it adds warmth, it works and plays well with pedals. both weigh more than many class D amps, but they still weigh less than a tube amp.

i have the 250 watt version of this 500 watt TC, and i quite like it. sounds very good, weighs little, costs little.

I bet you've got a suitable Hartke, Peavey, Ampeg, maybe SWR, Eden, etc. sitting on Craigslist within an hour of you for cheap (if you're in the US). But you'll get a better answer if we know where you are, what amp/cab you have now, what kind of music you play, and why you think you need more power. Probably also what sort of time you like. It may be that you need more power, or more speaker, or something else. Either way, looks like you joined recently, welcome!
What do you have? What genres and venues do you play? What is your budget? What cabinets are you using? What are the ratings in ohms and watts?
For power on a budget nothing beats a PA amp and a mic pre. You can get something pushing 1000-1500 watts for $100-150, and a mic pre for like $25.
Bugera is going to get you the most watts for the least dollars. Whether "best" can be achieved with Bugera is totally subjective. Not affiliated in any way with these Classified ads:

Thoughts on the Behringer Ultrabass BX2000H?
Acoustic B600 or B1000. Really cheap in the used market. I own a B600C and it rules!
Peavey Minimax. Play one of thoae in aa gig with a 1x15 and kick ass!
Fender rumble head. 500 or 800. Both super loud!

Did you end up using the 810 cabinet setup? If it's sealed like an ampeg you might try getting a used GK head. Great classic combination.
Depends on your budget and what you are after. Good news is you probably won't need much wattage with an 810.

On a budget? It's that or alto or much worse.I'll take either Alto or Behringer over no name stuff any day.... I've NEVER had reliability issues with any behringer product after a couple decades now of professional use.
They have a couple of very powerful and relatively affordable bass heads.
Also, used is a great way to go. Behringer used goes super cheap, but so do some other brands that might be older but still good. Peavey comes to mind.
