Just a guess - Billy SherwoodWho's on bass?
Who's on bass?
YES, who are Steve Howe, Alan White, Geoff Downes, Jon Davison and Billy Sherwood, release their new studio album The Quest on InsideOutMusic/Sony Music on 1st October 2021. Pre-orders will start from 23rd July.Jul 7, 2021Just a guess - Billy SherwoodGreen?
NB: I just learned that Billy's middle name is Wyman. His parents must have been Stones fans.![]()
An old drummer friend was really into them. What? No Meshuggah?
Gawd, they are so awful now. If ambien could be a prog band... Sad, because they were my favorite rock band, ever. Bad facsimile of their former selves, now, I think.Every time YES puts out a new album since Magnification they fall one position in this poll.
Which still makes them my favorite prog band.![]()
Fly From Here was the exception, that was pretty good. But Heaven and Earth almost made Big Generator seem good by comparison.Every time YES puts out a new album since Magnification they fall one position in this poll.

One of many where I'd like to know with where to start. It helps to post clips. What? No Meshuggah?
I'm in the no Squire / no Wakeman / no Yes camp (except Relayer).Gawd, they are so awful now. If ambien could be a prog band... Sad, because they were my favorite rock band, ever. Bad facsimile of their former selves, now, I think.
I think they've made certain incarnations work... Drama was great, and so was Fly From Here, and I think Moraz was the best of all of them, IMO. As much as I miss Squire, it's not like he's played an interesting bass line in years. Sherwood sounds like an imitation, and he also seems to be stuck in the 90's, sonically, too. But Jon Davidson sounds like a much weaker version of Anderson, his voice lacks any power, he always sounds like he's on the verge of crying.I'm in the no Squire / no Wakeman / no Yes camp (except Relayer).
One a side note, Olias Of Sunhillow, which I always liked and thought was a great album, couldn't get why Song Of Seven was so bad.
The Story Behind Jon Anderson's debut solo album Olias Of Sunhillow | Louder
Heaven and Earth was a steaming pile of hot garbage, melodically, rhythmically and sonically. The melodies sounded like children's songs at times, and Davison's lyrics sounded like bad imitations of Anderson's post-Tormato cheesiness, like a 16 year old girl writing about love and crystals.I think Heaven and Earth was their worst album. By far. I actually like Big Generator to some degree. Though admittedly, it is not on my play list.

I can’t think of a band with more control of time in their compositions.
Arditti Quartet:

(admittedly this would have been a funnier post if I could find Arditti's rendition of Elliott Carter's String Quartet #2, but apparently that's not on youtube.
...and yeah, Arditti ain't "prog-rock" so this is all meant for levity.)
The melodies sounded like children's songs...
