As one person's definition is not necessarily in line with another's, there are three thee alone that are arguably mislisted as such.

ELO is prog?
Back then it was called Art Rock.
The first ones were King Crimson, Yes, Tull, Floyd, ELP, Hawkwind, Moody Blues, Zappa/MOI, Mahogany Rush, Renaissance, Genesis, Wishbone Ash. Some may even include Uriah Heep and Iron Butterfly.
Yes and No, am with you except about Rush not being Prog.Or Camel! What about Camel?
And Dennis Greenslade, and Triumvirate, and Jade Warrior, and Bo Hansson, and…
BTW, am I the only one here who doesn’t think of Rush, ELO, and Tool as being progrock bands? They’re all decent bands. However, they’re not prog bands as I think of prog. But maybe that’s just me. “Old Guy” y’know?![]()
yes, and, no for anything before Then There Were Three - early Genesis is pure Prog; anything after is The Phil Collins Show of pop, Then There Were Three really sits in the middle. What followed was cringeworthy IMNSHO.I'd classify Tool as prog metal and Genesis as prog pop.
I think when someone edited in them to the Wikipedia entry. There's a bunch of others in that which have no business being there. When did ELO become a prog rock band? The same day that Yes fell out of the top 5 prog rock bands I'm guessing. I voted King Crimson but only so I could see the results![]()
Can't wait!"We'll go back in time to that mystic land
Where the dew drops cry and the cats meow
I will take you there, I will show you how..."

Not going to argue with a lot of what you're saying there - most of it is a purely a matter of personal taste and opinion, to which you're welcome and with which I largely agree. But there are reasons why Wishbone Ash were considered a progressive or semi-progressive band, around the time of their second and third alibums. I mean, this is pretty damned proggy for 1971:... but I don't consider them Prog), Wishbone Ash, Uriah Heep, Iron Butterfly (just no).
