okayy, I can't stand how much Mark Hoppus is bashed here, sure he's not punk to the max, but he is a good bassist, his basslines were crazy awesome on the last blink-182 album (2003) and had a few good ones before that (carousel and man overboard). his talents are diminished by the flashiness of Travis Barker.

i'd have to back up wounded paw on this one. rob wright is freaking great. that whole band is incredible. if you only own one punk cd, it should be WRONG by nomeansno.

I've seen them about 10 times and they just straight up kickass. No BS. No pretense. No posing phoney-ness. They do what they do and they do it very well. He's one of my all time favorite bass players.

I saw them at the Knitting Factory in LA a few years back and they still kickass, even if they're getting up there in age now.

On the same top 10 punk list I would put:
Darryl Jennifer - Bad Brains
Joe Lally - fugazi (groove master)
David Wm. Sims - the Jesus Lizard
Larry Boothroyd - Victim's Family, Hell Worms - amazing player! I saw them open for Primus more than a couple times.

Although fugazi is considered post-punk and the jesus lizard is something else entirely.

+1000, Mark Hoppus is actually a good bassist, I don't care what anybody says, he has some great sounding songs

I've even heard him refered to as the Geddy Lee of punk before, haha!
