Best Rock Rhythm Section

The Smiths had a great rhythm section. People always underrated the contributions of Mike Joyce and especially Andy Rourke, who had a very distinctive bass style.

Les Pattison and David de Freitas (I think that was his name) of Echo and the Bunnymen were also good. The Stone Roses, with Mani and Reni, were very cool.

Greenwood/Selway - Radiohead
Bogdan/Stanier - Helmet
P-Nut/Sexton - 311

I like the above combos a lot - even if they never reached the same level of status as Zeppelin, Rush etc. All are great at locking in and making the overall sound better without getting in the way or playing all over each other. :)

agreed, but I would add McNeilly/Sims of Jesus Lizard to that list.
