Wait! We're not done yet! I like Elixers nickels on pretty much all the basses i've tried them on. Plus they will last longer than a year in some cases. Dean Markley Blue steels worked very well for me on a Jack Casady bass I have. They lasted a long time for me also. I personally haven't had much luck with rotosound stainless rounds. They seem to go dead in a couple days for me. Others swear by them. In fact I personally have better luck with nickel rounds, the blue steels being the exception.

DR, Dunlop, SIT, D'Addario, Ernie Ball, GHS, D'Aquisto, Ken Smith, Lakland, Sadowsky, Elixer, Fender, LaBella, Dean Markley. All of those are good.

Zon, Pedulla, Warwick, Carl Mangan, Fodera, Elrick, Alembic, Rotosound!!
Now which ones am I forgetting that are also good?!

IMO there is nothing better than a Brand new set of ernie ball super slinky's for slapping and the price is right too. However they don't last me too long ahahahahah!!! Sooo I use Dunlop Super Bright Stainless Steels. I slap a lot and need that bright, growly piano string sound. For my next gig I'm trying a set of Dunlop's Marcus Miller Super Bright SS strings. They (Dunlop Super Bright) sound great on my Brubakers. Another decent SS string for your money are the Diaddario Pro Steels. Great value for the buck. I've tried the DR's too have a brand new set still in he box but I just don't have to spend that much on a set of SS strings to get the sound I want.

SS - D'Add Prosteels; super bright, low tension, easy on the fingers, and easy on the wallet.

Nickel - SIT Powerwounds / Elixir Nano's; both really nice sounding strings being warm, and bright.

Glad you see you're still using the Dunlop Super Brights! Fantastic strings that have no equal!

Thanks. Yup they are my string of choice but still I'm partial to the SS. I'll play Nickels if I HAVE to but I'm a SS Guy. I don't get into the what is best type of discussions because what might work for me may not work for the next guy. Still I have no problem obviously telling folk about what I like. After all it's Talk Bass and I can Talk Bass all day long.
