I just recently pruchased a 410hlf and I can already tell that it will become one of my favorite cabs in terms of portability and TONE. The berg nv610 might have been a little easier to tranport since I'm a tall guy and it sure felt lighter (from the website the ampeg is about 10lbs lighter). The lows are just beastly. Call me tone deaf of what you will but I can already see myself liking the ampeg more than the berg. I could not be happier with my cab change. Ampeg SVT-410HLF FTW :bassist:

Wow, unusual viewpoint for sure... I have heard only complaints about the portability of the hlf410 and I would not have guessed it was light than... well, pretty much anything lol... that's great you like it... I would really like to have a 4 ohm hlf410 on an A/B switch with my Avatar on the other channel... that's be pretty sweet... :bassist:

Best sound??

We all play different music, and have different tastes.

Some like a hifi flat tone that serves as a blank canvas for EQ.

Some insist their cabs nail their sound right outa the gate; so it's gotta have just the right scoop and sizzle (or lack of), built in.

And we all have different basses and heads and strings, that each bring their own response curves.

So: there is no best 410.

If you asked which 410 each of us, personally, like playing through the most, that would make more sense.

for the weight and the price, I don't think you can beat the Avatar...

I use mine in my metal band, with the high school jazz band, and in pit orchestras for musicals, and it gets the best...cleanest sound I have ever had. At all volumes, and with a couple different kind of basses: 72 p-bass; 86 Charvel; and a 90's era Pedulla fretless that I borrow...

played thru a Yamaha P3500S power amp, Sans Amp pre amp and BBE Sonic Maximizer 662...

best investment ever
