Best strings for metal?

I have a gig soon and I want to get new strings (gotta get them early to break them in) and I was wondering what kind would be absolutely best.
Were a hard metal band and I play hard wicked sweet deep parts. Lemme know!

Try to get a set of Skull Strings, they're awesome for metal, especially on humbuckers and other darker/muddier pickups. DR is nice, too, Hi Beams or Lo-Riders work very well. Although in the end, it's all about your gear, playing style and personal preference. E.g. Hi Beams sounded dull and lifeless on my Iceman (two humbuckers) while Skull Strings totally rock on that thing. Then again, Skull Strings are a bit overbright for my P bass (P+J) but that not a problem, after all there's a tone knob for that.

Ah if price isn't an issue, I use DR's on most my basses and love them.

Also if you can find the bass version of the strings Flattus Maximus uses you'd be set for metal.

i play death metal and grindcore and i uses DR-DDT for my taranis 5er and Warwick Black Lable Dark Lord set for my vampyre dark lord ;p its very metal \m/

For me it's always either been Ernie Ball Slinkies or a Rotosound 66 set. Anything that has a good bit of brightness that can cut through the mix whilst keeping a low presence. I've yet to try anything suggested in this thread so far.

Price?

No idea about price where you are, but here in Australia, $80 for 5 strings. Divide that by four and minus a little bit more because you have a 4 string... and you roughly get the American price .
