Best switch (killswitch)

I'd get something with a thicker shaft, in case you go a little crazy. Really, any SPDT toggle should work you just fine. Do you have a non-Radio Shack electronics store nearby? If not, Mammoth electronics, Digikey, Mouser, Guitar Fetish, BassPartsResource, Allparts, etc. should have quality parts available.

Buckethead uses what's called a momentary switch which is a heck of a lot easier for doing quick on/off licks like in his tune "Jordan". Sounds like what you're wanting is a two position toggle switch which will work but will be much harder to operate for intricate rhythms. Why do you want to mute between songs? In a live setting there shouldn't really be much dead space between tunes IMO. But if you really want to have no sound, just turn your volume knob down, no? Of course you could also wire both a momentary and toggle switch.

I'd like to be recommended on the most endurable switch brands. Maybe I'll buy dimarzio; thougts?

@keiththebassist, Thank you for your suggestion; but I just wanna make feedback noises with distortion and delay and things like that; nothing complicated. Thank you anyway.

There are probably only a handful of companies that make switches, so brand is almost moot. Any guitar brand that has a switch most certainly does not produce them in-house and has them outsourced through one of the big switch manufacturers.

Most switches are going to be built to withstand whatever you throw at them, which doesn't sound like it will be a lot. Get something metal and probably something thick enough (might search for heavy duty switches) that you can grip. Other than that, just look for a reasonable price. Buying one switch online might not be cost effective, but Mammoth Electronics, [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], Guitar Fetish, Invalid Link Removed, Link Removed, eBay, and many others all have them.

DiMarzio will work fine, but I don't think they make a SPDT (on-on) switch and there's no sense in paying for a DPDT switch if you're going keep the other terminals unused.

Non-Radioshack? What's wrong with Radioshack parts? I know they have a horribly limited selection and the employees kind of look at me weird for buying parts there (your store wasn't always a smaller, crappier version of Best Buy) but their parts don't seem any less functional than anything else I've seen. If there's another reason, please tell me, because I'd prefer not to waste my money at a store that sells bad parts.

Switches are among the few components where quality REALLY matters. With most other components the audible/functional differences between the cheapest version and the most expensive version are hard to pin down or prove. But switches, they fail all the time; and some of them go "dodgy" (intermittent or poor connections) for a long time before completely failing.

Radio Shack only sells the cheapest possible parts. So I would be happy with resistors, diodes, that sort of thing from them, but not switches.

Thanks for explaining that. That explains whyba few of the dpdt's I got from them didn't work right out of the packaging. It's worth the extra few miles to Fry's for better parts then. Or online ordering for stuff I don't need immediately. Probably cheaper that way too.

You know, I used to play a les paul guitar and I am very used to that type of switch. So, after a lot of thinking (yeah), I've decided that I need that kind of switch. About the price, yes it is expensive for a switch; though I prefer spending 15 dollars more than the average, but buying one just one time, and not two or three. Now what I need to know is wich brand is the most endurable one.
