Best U Basses

So basically I have a U bass (Ukulele Bass) that sounds horrid because of the nature of the rubbery strings and the terrible fret board on it. It doesn’t have a brand or serial number on it so I don’t know what kind it is.

What are some good U basses and good U bass strings?

Don't blame the hammer when the nail goes in crooked.
You have to adjust your technique to get good tone out of a Ubass.

It's not my first choice either. I'm traveling for 10 months and I only have the space for this U bass I'm borrowing. I normally use a schecter stiletto or an Ibanez ergodyne. I think the metal strings would help me get the sound I want though
