im using the Ernie Ball Jr. for active pickups with my active bass. the problem is the sweep is uneven. it really only gives me any volume right before its maxed out. im looking for one with a more uniform and even increase in volume.

really interested to see of the passive ernie ball would be better.

any suggestions?

Morley volume pedals. :)

Based on the problem you're describing, I'd suggest looking into a linear-taper volume pedal like the Morley Little Alligator. It provides an even volume increase across its sweep.
+1. i have a morley little alligator and it has definitely done the job well. i like the adjustable minimum volume knob that adjusts the volume/sweep.

i highly highly reccomend the visual sound visual volume pedal. its exactly what your asking for. plus the LEDS are a great idea.

i even more highly reccomend not going near any morely product. they're a horrible company with horrible products if you ask me. they sent me a defective pedal, i sent it back, the one they returned to me was also defective. when i tried straightening it out they were just overall not very helpfull people, constantly giving me an attitude (as if its my fault they send out defective pedals?)

maybe morley is in cahoots with UPS..cause thats whos making all the money off of morley products...

but anyway, yeah, visual sound is a great pedal.

perhaps you were unlucky. never had any types of problems with morley.

I have a Boss FV-500. Does everything I want it to do (mainly volume swells) plus I'm pretty sure it could withstand a direct nuclear blast. Also, no tone suck that I can detect (I'm using the low impedance version that's going after some buffered effects.)

You sure? What's the value of the pot? It should be a 25k, not a 250k.

Does it give you the same volume as when the pedal is not in circuit? Have you checked to see if the mechanism is working properly? Sometimes the grub screw holding the sheave to the pot shaft works loose.

BTW, the Jr. model doesn't have the sweep taper switch.

Judas, the taper switch is only on the 250k version - not on the 25k version.

What I'm struggling with is that many of us think the EB VP Jr. IS the best volume pedal! So when you say you want something better, we all tilt our heads to one side like a dog does when you make weird sounds!

Rather than just tossing the thing in the bin and getting something else, perhaps you could try to work out why the thing isn't working as it should be. I mean, there's so many happy users here that it just defies convention that it shouldn't work for you as well.

Did you buy it new, beyondthe48?
