Best Way for Tuning

  1. I tune open A to a tuning fork, and tune my open strings to that. I'll also use the octave harmonics to check the perfect 4ths.

    When Barre Phillips was ISB president, about 10 years ago, he wrote a great article for Bass World about his tuning ritual. I suggest checking it out.
