Best way to eliminate ground loop noise?

I have a home studio in my basement and it’s a bit noisy sometimes. I didn’t thought about grounding the computer case.

One thing that I solved lately was turning off the 2.4ghz wifi on the router (in the same room): got rid of a weird chirping noise in my setup at high volume. Several tube amps connecting together and also connected to my main desktop computer via its audio interface. When there is a lot of display activity, it induces a bit of noise.

However, I’ve greatly reduced the offending noise with a few devices where there is an « audio ground lift » or better, transformer isolated ABY or reamp gear…

My electric panel is not too far from the room though (15-20 feet).

Analog is funny (tube and solid-state). Several times in the past (years ago), I heard an amp pick-up police/fire radio.

More recently, anytime I have a mobile device (BlackBerry, modern cell-phone, etc.), I hear buzzing/clicking anytime I get it close to a land-line when on a call.

Well, with the advent of modern digital/mobile devices/phones/wifi/whatnot, our signal is definitely prone to a lot of interferences… New tech is fun but brings other problems. However, we are able to do what was almost impossible for musicians back not so long ago (90’s).

I suggested that the OP post their equipment and signal chain way back in this thread. They never did. Everyone has jumped to the conclusion that they had wiring problems in their house.

I still think the problem is more to due with their gear and the way it is connected than anything else. Many of us use a variation of the same kind of setup. Can't really offer help when you don't know the basic information. Sounds like they are happier now anyway by doing something (post #58). It could help others in the future to know what it was.
