Beware pickguard from Strukture

I have an AS precision black bass with a White Pickguard.
So I decided to get a vintage red tortoise pickguard to give it a lift. Well, it was inexpensive on e-bay so Igot one.
Took the original white guard off and the new one (13 hole)does not fit. The Company that mfgs the guard is Strukture.
If you decide to change your pickguard ask the seller who
makes the pickguard. The Strukture has to be shaved around the bottom of the neck.

The good is that the 13 holes line up. I am going to have to figure out how to cut-down the area around the bottom of the neck to get a good fit. Also, no truss rod cut-out like the original.

Yep,almost to be expected.. If you have a tight-fitting neck pocket and don't mind removing the neck, take the neck off, screw on the 'guard, and sand it flush with the pocket. I prefer 220grit,as it can be real easy to take off too much too fast..Otherwise,sand a little, dry fit it,and repeat as necessary..

I bought the same pickguard for my MIM P bass. I sanded it for the neck and the pickups. The holes were close but not perfect so I heated it with a hairdrier from the middle and worked my way around putting the screws in as it grew. Looks good though.

I'm pretty sure that's a fairly common issue with aftermarket pickguards. Especially inexpensive Ebay ones.

Yup - I bought one for a P Bass from WD Music(pickguards.com), and not only did I have to shave a little for the neck pocket, but I also had to hog out the holes for the pickups - and it was overpriced, too... Even worse was the PG for a Jazz I got from them - that one had to be sent back, it was so crappy - lesson learned...

Actual Fender PGs always fit best on Fenders - big surprise, huh??? Pickguard Heaven is said to be quite good, too...

Interesting. I've had nothing but good luck with WD. Did you send them an accurate trace of your pickguard?
