I would like to share with you some pics of my electric upright bass from one of the most followed and promising young luthier from Tuscany-Italy (a trumpet and flugelhorn player with the passion for string-instruments) http://www.biarnel.com/liuteria/sticomk2/sticomkii.html
Francois, I believe it is the first time his work is presented on an international forum: if there will be interest in this type of musical instruments probably he will traslate the content of the pages for potential foreign customers. In the meantime google translator could help for the comprehension
...AND, in the meantime, I can answer all your questions An english page will be online this evening, anyway. (yes, I'm the luthier from biarnel liuteria!)
Welcome aboard! Your instrument had a feel of déjà vu, and I found why!: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4684682&postcount=35
Hi, I'm new to this forum mullarkey, so forgive me if I do something wrong. I have just collected a "Stico" EUB from the Tuscan luthier Biarnel (www.biarnel.com), and brought it back to the UK last Tuesday (well done Ryan Air!). I can tell you that it plays and sounds very much like a real double bass, and not like a fretless bass guitar, which is exactly what I wanted. If you are looking for something similar, and you are in Europe, you might want to consider this maker. I found him excellent to work with, and very reasonably priced. I would be happy to answer any questions about my experience so far, and will no doubt be trawling this forum in the coming weeks for tips on how to get the most from my new toy. Dave
Ahh that looks fantastic. The quality looks great too! I dont suppose you have some sound clips of it? Just the raw signal?
Biarnel makes an awesome job,at least on electric basses,I never tried any of their EUBs but if they are half as good as the solidbody stuff I'm sure they rock

As you can hear from the sound clips, the Stico is all about sounding like a real double bass, and I think it does a great job at that. I am a bass guitar player, and am using a Trace Elliot amp with a 15" cab at present. I suspect this is not ideal, and I would be better with a more mellow amp. Anyone got any tips on amps to consider for this kind of sound?
By the way, I just uploaded an English version of the Stìco page, and I'm slowly uploading an english version of my entire website. http://www.biarnel.com/eng/liuteria/sticomk2/sticomkii.html Feel free to warn me of any possible syntax/grammar mistake
Hi everybody, I want to tell you about my new purchase !! Last winter I wanted to buy an electric upright bass and, before to take a decision, I was looking, here in the forum, the reviews about the different EUB's. Biarnel lutherie picked my attention, also since it's only 100 km from my town ! As a "standard" double bass player I was looking for something playing like a real double bass, and not like a fretless bass. And I was very impressed when I tried the Stìco for the first time (after I tried several EUB's before). Moreover, I can tell you that the sound with the bow is very realistic !! And, in my opinion, the price is quite reasonable for the high quality of this instrument. So, I would like to share with you the pictures, below, of my new Stìco. Yes ! I asked for a whole satin black Stìco !! More pictures can be found in the webpage of Biarnel: http://www.biarnel.com/liuteria/sticomk2/img/IMG_7805.jpg http://www.biarnel.com/liuteria/sticomk2/img/IMG_7802.jpg and this is the home page for the Stìco http://www.biarnel.com/liuteria/sticomk2/sticomkii.html If you have any question about this instrument, I would be happy to answer.
