Hi guys,
Been a long time reader of Talkbass Forums and only just joined as a member! So here's my first question!
I'm currently looking at buying a new 5er.
I already own an SR5 and a MIA P Bass which I,ve modded and fiddled with.
I love my SR5, especially live, but found on recordings I'm enjoying the tone of the passive P a lot more.
I play with a pick 90% of the time. Mostly heavy rock, punk stuff and occasionally dance and R&B stuff in my covers band.
Love dirty tones and have a heap of overdrives and distortion pedals.
What would be the most aggressive, fat, loud and nasty 5 string bass worth trying for that.
I'm after lots of character and tone.
In the past I have owned and liked Warwicks, but prob after amore traditional look.
I love the look and have been reading up on Sadowskys but as yet have not had a chance to try one.
Also G&L is definatly one I'm liking the sound of but have read that the B string is not as good as a Stingray.
I have also owned a 5 string Skyline 55-02 which I took back after a week. Didn't have enough balls and aggression in it's tone, was too laid back and I couldn't pull the tone that I wanted from it.
Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks in advance.... Matt
