Big Bottom

So I was doing a club gig downtown last week with a band I was traveling to Florida with for the weekend for a few shows. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted Harry Shearer (Derek Smalls-Spinal Tap) entering the club with a friend. I've ran into him before and he spends a large part of the year here in NOLA living in the Marigny neighborhood (really nice, locally-involved guy, too). First chance I got between songs I teased the riff and double stops to Spinal Tap's "Big Bottom". He pointed me out and I shot him a huge grin. Next stop for him was the tip bucket ( it's a funk/soul gig that goes LATE). Needless to say, it made my night and hopefully his!

Sweet Avatar Gard. I'm not so much a Bourbon street cat-I've done a couple private balcony parties during Mardi Gras and some pickup work here and there. I've played the Famous Door and the B-street Club.

Hey, yours ain't too bad either Willy...nice pup!

Back in the Bourbon St. period, I was actually living in BR and commuting, I grew up on the Northshore (Slidell, graduated from Salmen HS). The house gig thing was nice in some ways, in others it got pretty boring. Steady gig though, that was nice.

Some amazing music in that town still, hoping to make it back for a visit in November, catch some music, see a game, etc, etc...

He remains (possibly) the only person to ever wear a Shrewsbury Town shirt in somehting people have actually seen.

Here's me modelling the (in)famous airport scene get up:
