Big E Speakers Part 4 - Quadraphenia

I was under the impression that the x6 loaded cabs actually go deeper, while the 10 and 12 cabs have higher output levels. I could be wrong, somebody correct me if that's the case

Not much discussion on the 46 or the new 66. Mike was suggesting I look at the 66, and I know one guy here who uses a stack of 46's.
Any comments on these two cabs for those who do not need the über lows of the MAS109/110 series cabs?

John, did you get your 12 yet? That thing is a hammer and what I think you'd want for rock.

The 26, 46, and 66 in the current lineup.
Okay, I didn't know they had a series name.

For my Ric, I felt it was too deep, if there is such a thing.
I dunno, maybe it wasn't deep enough if the 6.5 series are deeper.

Mike suggested the 66; but a pair of 46's, one for small gigs, and a stack for mondo gigs would be more versatile.
Or a 66 for most stuff, and a 66 + 46 for coliseums!

I just haven't been able to get to any GTG's or bass shows where these cool boutique cab and amp makers set up.

You could always go with a pair of 8x5s, that would be killer!

I could be wrong but the 46 goes stupid low and a man of much experience (sorry if I butcher his handle) gantboss bought two. I almost never haul out the 5'ver anymore since I play old school blues funk and rock, but the 46 times two would be more than adequate I believe. Mike can chime in if the tens go lower. Might not

Are you running a pair? Cuz damn, I wanna try that.....with JGR's amp!

Guilty as questioned above.

Pretty sure they will be run mostly in the horizontal configuration. Reason being I run through a rack head. Vertical gives a single cab a large Muffin Top, the rack is too heavy for double stacked cabs so would require additional floor space or a stand.

Cheers,

Steve

When I placed my order, Mike mentioned 2 x 4/6 would be crazy overkill and I kept my modular order of 2/6 and 4/6. I thought for the little extra money I might as well get two of the 4's, but I trust the Man in charge here. Don't have them yet (soon!)but I am happy I kept my order the same.

The 6" based cabs actually go the lowest of all of my cabs. The 112 seems lower because while it gets edged out by a few hz it's more powerful in the low end. At that point it's splitting hairs, I think in terms of extension.

Just to let you know---Duratex shipped the custom orange color yesterday. Should have it Monday. Then it's just a couple of days to finish.

You could also try standing them in a vertical position side by side maybe with a slight cross-fire or toe-in with the rack split equally on top of both. It will give a different mid/HF presentation.
