Big pedal obsession?

I've noticed recently that there's a big urge to "save pedal board space" and companies are responding by making smaller pedals. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I really like the way big pedals look on a board.

Maybe it's because I'm of the "less is more" mentality, and my playing doesn't necessitate a large board with 5 different fuzzes, and a myriad of modulation effects that would require me to be space conscious. Something just seems right when I look down at my board and see these 5 fat daddy blocks of aluminum that take up a bunch of space.

Am I crazy, or are there others that feel the same way? I even prefer the looks of straight end patch cables, so maybe I just like wasting space.

not me. i've got 3 pedals i so wish i could make smaller and lighter. when you have to stuff pedals in your suitcase to fly to gigs, you really come to appreciate the light small ones. bring too many heavy ones and you end up paying extra on top of the baggage fees you're already getting hit with.

There is room in the market for both. I don't have a huge pedal board for my guitar, but I do have limited space at home. If I can find a pedal that sounds good, is built well AND is smaller than the previous pedal? Sounds like a win to me.

The smaller pedals usually mean less to fiddle with, so there is that short-coming. But not everyone likes all of that fiddling, either. So, the simplicity can be a plus.
