But I'd look for something as short as practical, and at least 14ga wire (the lower the number, the thicker)

No... but a beat to hell and back shredded 410 or 810 with a dented driver or two... let us know what you find out on that front - particularly as to the cab and DI sitch.

And make sure it says speaker cable. You don't want it to be shielded, as that shielding can cause issues with the higher power from amps.

This ^100% -- your Hartke has plenty of power to burn out a guitar cable, which could also burn out the amp.

With that said, I haven't seen too many shielded 12-14 ga cables...

I have the speak on, I'm running parallel 4 ohm cabs until I can get the 810s

I got 12 gauge shielded 1/4 jacks. 2 for $26 not bad

Store clerk tried selling me monitor style speaker cable (the style that is 2 separate wires with really thin sheathing), tried telling me it'll be fine for bass amps. Can't always trust them.

No, it's TS not TRS. You do not want TRS, you do not want shielded. You also probably shouldn't listen to somebody whose livelihood depends on telling you what he thinks you want to hear.
