Biggest P inspiration?

Lots of great P'ers past and present. But this guy probably inspired me the most.

George Porter Jr.

Who inspired you to P?

It’s not where most players know him from, but George Porter Jr’s work on Tori Amos’ Under The Pink absolutely blew me away despite being 180 degrees away from how I usually like to play. Unbelievably smart and tasteful playing.

I was gonna say Jamerson and Pino and Freddie Washington but... Nobody makes me wanna grab a P Bass more than Paul Simonon actually. I can’t see the cover of London Calling and not wanna play my Precision really loud.

I think my love of the P Bass also comes from the punk / new wave era of the late 70's when most of my favourite bands had a bassist with a low slung P Bass.

And the king of the low slung bass was the late, great Dee Dee Ramone.
