I've always loved this album. I think it's particularly good because he for once has a drummer who's at his level and who's willing to kick his a**. That E substution you point out is a favorite change for me to throw in if I think the pianist isn't listening to me. You can kick that open E string there and, as Ron Carter likes to say, make him raise his eyebrows and listen.

Resonance has put out a few recordings from this tour that are the first time more of the Eddie and Jack band has been released. It seems like this was a very short lived lineup between Jack's stay with Charles Lloyd and Miles. I think Paul Motian took over the CL gig?
I'm pretty sure there must be a video of this that exists, too...

Such a great album. Big fan of Bill Evans and his trios. Big fan of Eddie Gomez. Somehow listening to this work differently than when I first heard it. Maybe I know more and have more informed ears or maybe I'mjust older
