The only basses I use! Right now I play a custom "Mystic", which is a semi hollow Birdsong, in a country rock band. I'll have my Cypress body CBass in a couple of weeks!
When I had my birdsong I did every gig on it, fantastic bass. I miss it but arthritis has forced me to play an even shorter scale, so I traded it for a 23" scale marleaux. But it was a great sounding bass that was incredibly well built. It fit in a mix incredibly well also.
I am playing a beautiful zebrawood birdsong for my gigging bass.I wish I could post a pic. I get some nice compliments every time I pull it from my case. Scott does some good work on his guitars. I hope to order another someday.
I gig with one in a country-ish/folk/Americana band. Mine has a split coil in the middle and a single coil at the neck. This is a killer setup in my opinion for anything where you are pretending you have an upright or where you just want thumpy pbass sound. Very high quality and unique instrument. As others have said, no one will make you feel as good about shelling out 2 grand for a bass as Scott Beckwith.
I gigged plenty with my Hy5. It sounded great. The bass player of my morning jacket toured with one and also to see one in action look up los enanitos verses on you tube to check out another tourist artist who uses birdsong basses.
Yeah, I did Cortobass C-180 IIRC. Mesquite body, very nice sounding bass, great build quality, fantastic neck shape. Only downside (for me) I CAN'T enjoy a short-medium scale bass, so...I hope someone somewhere is gigging this bass!
13 basses in the shop at this time and my Cortobass gets 90% of my attention Once I added the the thumb rest it became my most comfortable bass to play The only reason I wouldn't play it out is if I'm partying. I'll grab one of my less expensive instruments then
I'm intrigued by Birdsong. They have an excellent reputation and I like the size and style. Slightly reminiscent of my Ibanez basses, in particular my SR-500 Mahogany bass. Anyone else bought and enjoy a Birdsong recently?
