Not sure if I'm in the right thread for this but only Birdsong owners could answer this properly.
I'm looking for suggestions regarding replacing the hardshell case my Cortobass came in for a more robust, better sealed case. I had a very good SKB travel case for electric guitar shipped to GC but it was a full inch too short at the headstock so I returned it.
Does anyone in the Birdsong Club use a hard case other than the original? If so, I'd appreciate hearing about it. Thanks in advance.
On another note, I thought about getting a CBass down the road but the new SD Curlee that was just unveiled is looking mighty tasty!

Dude, i just went and picked mine up in person and saw yours hanging up in the shop, looks so awesome.
I'll get pictures up here soon. Scott and 3D and Jamie are all just the most awesome people! The trip down was really a rejuvenating experience, and my bass plays AMAZINGLY.. Sadhana #51, and soon we get to be Bloodwood brothers! I'm stoked for you man, it'd be great to see the unboxing on the youtubes. Do what you do, peace to everybody in the birdsong thread.

SaWEET! I know that had to be a ton of fun getting to meet the crew and hang out. I visited a few years back and it was a blast. They're the coolest people I know. That's awesome that you saw my bass. I wish it would've been playable so you could try it out! Your Sadhana is positively gorgeous btw. I talked to Scott yesterday and told him I want knobs the same style as yours. I'll definitely make a youtube vid when I get my hands on that Hy5. Gonna be a religious experience I tell ya.
I know this is not exactly what you are asking about, but FWIW, I use a Gator guitar flight case to transport my Corto when I fly to Texas (in fact, I am down here right now, but will not be able to get over to the Birdsong Shop before going back to Oregon
). The corto fits VERy snugly, and this is the third time I have flown to Texas with the Corto with no problems. The case is built like a tank...
Thanks, rclef. I ordered the case and it arrived today. Just as you described. A bit tight but sturdy and a good seal. It's been very humid in the NE and I am using Dri-box dessicants in both my bass' cases to keep the RH at a decent level. This case will do a better job of keeping the weather conditions at bay than the stock case which was also starting to get loose around the latches.
I only use the flight case when I fly (as I just got home yesterday morning from Texas). Got the little not in the case this time that said they opened it up to inspect it... (hope they appreciated the niceness of the bass). But again, a nice safe roundtrip for the Corto... (in fact, I need to swap it into the original case to go to practice tonight...)
I intend to use the original case as a gigging case. The Gator is great for what I need at home or on the road (haven't gone there yet as a musician) but is a bit massive for local use.
Yeah... drag that puppy around a bit... will build up the muscles... I am wondering if I can add wheels to it without comprimising the integrity of the case. Either that, or I need to get some roadies....
Just bought that HY5 with the scroll on it. I've never even owned a 5 string but that thing was just calling my name.
I like the wood on that... While the scroll is not my cuppa joe, it is a beautiful axe that is gonna rock! Enjoy!
